Need help. Plant looking weak and not so healthy?
    #636277 - 09/02/12 08:08 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Hi to everyone! I'm new, and this would be my first post on this forum :laugh:

I'm pretty much a n00b to ganja growing.

I need some help.
I took some pics of my current "project". All pics together are 27mb. So I've put it up on dropbox. Please take a look :smile:

My problem is obvious I think. The plant looks pretty desperate in my opinion?
Some leaves have turned yellow, and I removed most of them. I also added a bit of fertilizer since I've read that it could be nitrogen deficiency.

I need some opinions from experienced growers/ppl who know more than me about this.
Like can it be saved, what's wrong, does it need to grow more etc.

After all, this is my only plant (besides a very very small one which I don't count really), and I really would like to get some smoke this winter if possible :smile:

If you see droplets of water on the pics, it's because I've watered it prior taking pics.

Soil Growers:

1. Are you growing from seed or clones?
-->from seeds. seeds are from some pot I bought.

2. How old are your plants?
-->aprox. 5months

3. How tall are your plants?
-->1.1m

4. What size containers are they planted in?
-->no container. outdoor plant.

5. What is your soil mix?
-->no special mix. plain soil where I also plant salad, tomatoes etc.

6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use?
-->every second day, now every day. I'm using tap water

7. What is the pH of your water?
-->I don't have no kind of measurement tools, can't say.

8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio?
-->This I used twice: N 14% 6.4% amonium state, 7.6% amid state
P2O5 7%
K2O 21%
-->And about a week ago I fed it half a green fertilizer stick. I don't know the ratio, because I dumped the package :undecided:

9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything?
-->Not really. But given the condition of the plant, I sprayed some Fe (iron) a couple of days ago. That's all the spraying I did. I thought it could help....

10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")
-->The sun

11. How close are your lights to the plants?
-->93 million miles, or 1AU :P

12. What size is your grow space in square feet?
-->Outdoor plant. It has all the space it wants.

13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space?
-->I live in europe, croatia. I guess it's an average between 20-50% ?

14. What is the pH of the soil?
-->Can't say, no measurement tools.

15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space?
-->Nothing out of order.

16. How much experience do you have growing?
-->Almost nada :P

Looks like a generalized deficiency to me.

How much of that fertilizer are you using per gallon of water?

It says on the package to use 50grams on 10liters (2.6gallons).
With this, one should water 1square meter(10.7 square feet) with 2liters(half a gallon) of the solution.

I just did some math, and realised I used about 10grams or less on 5liters(2.3gallons). LoL!
So that's definitely not enough of it.
And I only fertilized the plant twice this way.
I guess I was afraid not to over-fertilize it.

A couple of days ago I've put a green fertilizer stick in the soil. I don't know the ratio though cuz I've thrown the package away -.-
But it was for green plants alright.

What do you think, should I fertilize it some more?
It's september, Fall is coming, so I don't think I have much time. I suppose I can't save and fix the plant all the way? But I can try to save as much as possible :smile:

Well those sticks tend to be an extended release fertilizer.  So I wouldn't add anymore, might make things worse that way.

I've only put half of the stick to be precise :laugh:

So what's your thinkin'? I should leave as is for now?
BTW- do you think I could harvest the plant in 3-4 weeks? Or does it look to weak/undergrown?

It's not mature yet, but 3-4 weeks can make quite a bit of difference.  I'd leave it for now, since you have no idea what that stick you put in the ground is going to do.  Plain water only from here on out.

Here's a progress update if anybody wants to see :smile:
I think it's much better then it was :laugh:

Judging by the pics, how much more until it reaches maturity?
I definitely wouldn't want to chop it down too soon :frown:

Oh, BTW- here's a pic of my second plant... It has the same conditions, but it turned out to be a midget plant :P

You need to get a small jewelers loop or a portable microscope and check out the trichomes to determine harvest times.  But by first glance you are a ways off.

I don't have a microscope, but I can magnify with the eyepiece of an telescope :laugh: pretty nice magnification. Although not as much as on your pic.

I'll take some pics and post.

You can't see them clearly enough at all with those pics.  You need to get a jewelers loop or the microscope I linked to.

Maybe they resized the pics so you can't magnify the pics posted...
'cause I can see some trichomes when I magnify it on my PC o_O

Anyway,I'm not from the USA, so credit cards are a little strange to me :P
But I'll try asking a friend to order me one of those little things.

Just tell me is there a difference between this:

and the one you showed me?

thanX :smile:

I've ordered the microscope from ebay, like hawksapprentice said. But unfortunately it won't ship in time before harvest. Still, good to have it for next year :smile:
As far as I could magnify with my telescope eyepiece, all trichs are white with some rare amber colored.
So I guess I should wait one more week. What do you think?
Here's the plant looks now:

You just need to keep an eye on em.  I would guess about 2-3 weeks for them to bulk up though, I don't know where you live so I have no idea how long they have been flowering for.

OFC I'll keep an eye on 'em especially since they're so close to being mature :smile:
Southern Croatia is where I'm from. About a month of flowering. If that helps...
