Crappy cretins crapping on my chronic!
    #633210 - 07/30/12 12:18 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

In doing the nightly inspection of my plants, I found 3 caterpillars munching away on my girls' leaves!!

Being 4 and a half weeks into flower, can I still use a bacillus thuringiensis spray or powder on the plants to get rid of them??? I don't want to have to hand-pick through a 54 sq/ft canopy for these fuckers... :kingcrankey:

You wanna get rid of those fucking things esp if they are the little green caterpillars. They start to eat their way threw the buds which isn't the problem the problem is when they shit in the buds it can cause rot to start in those areas. (and it almost always will) With them they cause the rot to start from the inside of the bud so you don't see it till it's pretty severe.

Do they cause the rot even if they're not eating the actual buds? Because all the damage I've found so far is from them eating fan leaves. I'm speculating its too sticky for them to crawl onto the buds themselves...

I haven't been able to get any spray yet, because we live so fucking far out, but I will get some either today or tomorrow. Do you have any recommendations, Magash? Keep in mind, its week 5 of flower in there... I've been going in twice a day and picking off the ones I can find... found 5 last night.

They WILL eat the buds too.  I've seen it a lot in outdoor buds.

I've never actually treated with anything for em though.  Hopefully Magash will have some advice on that.

But on outdoor bud the wind, rain, and other things cause the trichromes on the outside of the plant to get crushed a lot....

there's trichs EVERYWHERE on these tops and not a single munch mark on any leaves with them, hence my wondering if it's just too sticky for them to venture onto...

Trust me it's not.  These outdoor buds were some of the stickiest I have ever seen.  They will eat your buds.

Yea. I picked up some. Captain Jack's DeadBug. It has Spinosa and Spinosad, and is supposed to be perfectly safe for during lowering...

I sprayed em yesterday morning when the lights went off, and that night I only found 2... let's. See. What I find tonight...

spinosad is a contact poison, so make sure you get good coverage (especially under the leaves)

PS will spinosad work on Caterpillars?  From my understanding it kills by disrupting the molt phase of an insect, which doesn't seem applicable when talking about caterpillars

Yeah, I just dug out some old labeling, and saw that it was recommended for use against worms (caterpillars)
