so ive read that you need a HPS for flowering and a MH for veg
why couldnt i just use one light for both but change the cycles... light spectrum
theres a couple threads of people doing that but i want whats best.
i also saw theres conversion bulbs and you just buy one ballast
help

You can use one light for both, people do that all the time.
And instead of getting a weird ass conversion bulb, just get a switchable ballast.

Because it's better for Veg. And if you don't mind switching it out then it's best to go with one of each. Also once you get to 4000-5000 watts of light you should mix one MH per 4-5 lights in the mix.
Yes go with HPS. That's all I use.

When shopping for your ballast go with digital/electronic they run both MH/HPS bulbs no conversion bulb necessary.
If I had to choose just one it'd be HPS. But I truly prefer vegging under MH.
