Northern Lights in Air-Pot with straight Coco

Just transplanted this unsexed NL young'n from soil to straight coco. Will be feeding it with teas made from EWC, Espoma Bio-tone, and EJ Grow, Bloom, and Catalyst. The container is a 2.5 gallon Air-Pot. The purpose of the air-pot is for root air-pruning, creating a better root structure.

They definitely don't look like a DIY pot. My guess is that they help with aerating the soil.

actually i think the purpose of them is to let the roots grow out the side, then you trim the roots down after it's grown through creating a tight rootball.
My guess anyways, i've never seen anyone use one.

Yeah, he mentioned root air-pruning. I think we're both right; this is what the website says:
Quote:
This root ball shows clearly the superior root system produced by a tree when grown in an Air-Pot. In addition to the lack of root circling, these roots get better aeration than those growing in standard nursery pots.

That is correct. There are alternatives to achieving this, such as the Smart Pot, peat pots, and chemical root pruning.
