Getting Nervous..
    #611538 - 03/04/12 08:57 PM (4 years, 8 months ago)

So I germinated my seeds for 48 hours until I saw the seeds pop and the taproots peaking out. After that I planted very shallowly in a pot of organic top soil with a small (Maybe about 1/8th) amount of vermiculite and a small handful of perlite.

I been misting the pots pretty much daily (Not drenching them but just trying to keep the soil moist). I took the temp/humid levels just now and it is at 85 degrees +/- with a 70% humidity level.

I am sure the temp is a little bit high, would that be enough to kill any possible sprouts? This is my first grow so I am trying to understand what/if anything I am doing needs to be tweaked.

Here's a pic of my setup, I know it's ghetto but it's the best I can arrange at the moment. *P.S. I put a layer of plastic wrap today after misting over the pots to raise humidity*

Give em time.  Stop misting all the time.  Keep that saran wrap on and give em a little fresh air once or twice a day.

K will do. They haven't even broken the surface like that. I think the tap root is still just crawling out..I'll slow down on misting now that I have the saran wrap on there.

Took your advice and it looks like they're both sprouting now! One of them you can definitely see the beginnings of green and the other the seed has risen to the top soil (Though hasn't completely split apart yet.)

I guess patience is key here haha. I just got a little edgy because I read that at about 7 days it's unlikely that they will sprout if they haven't already. I felt like a worried daddy haha.

Gotcha, my nerves are eased now. I posted an update here with pics

http://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/608989/fpart/2

Like I say there one is starting to open its leaves (Though it's closer to the ground) and the other has a strong sturdy stem about an inch above the ground but the seed hasn't opened up yet. Just want my babies to get a good start . Since I have limited room for height I am going to loosely tie the tops down together, they're an autoflowering Runderalis strain so they shouldn't get too big supposedly. I'll keep updating every week at that link.

Edit: How long should I continue to keep the saran wrap on though?

Unfortunate news, hardly any progress on the small sprout and the one that was doing well with is drooping all the way to the ground. After looking on the site I think it's heat stress..So i turned off one of my lights to try and get temps in the 70's and keep it there. So sacrificing light exposure for cooler temperatures. Also misted some water and put some fresh saran wrap on....i'll keep you posted, I may have to restart though...:frown:

Mid to high 80's, 85 degrees on average though. I had the fans on high and two 40 watt lights on. The lights are about 1 foot and inches away.

That really shouldn't have caused your seedlings to die.  There has to be a problem else where.

seed 1 (hard to see it's dead center inbetween the two perlite pieces.

seed 2 (lying on the ground)

Temp 79 and dropping with humidity in the 40's. Sorry for the shitty photos but was with phone camera and I am in a rush tonight.

Organic top soil.

Also noting I added a small amount of vermiculite/perlite
