Building a controller bucket
    #611096 - 03/01/12 08:06 AM (12 years, 30 days ago)

I am gettin ready to put in a second flood and drain system. I want to put it all together much cheeper this time, so my plan is to build it all myself rather than buyin the kit. So my question is that has annyone have any experice with doing this? If so i could use a few tips on wiring the float switches.

Well Ebb and Flow doesn't use a "controller bucket".  You use a reservoir with a pump that flows right back into the reservoir from your tray.  No controller bucket like you have in DWC.

the system i am using right now pumps from a large resivior into the "controller bucket" then from there floods my plants. after 15 minuets it then pumps it from the "controller bucket" back to the resivior.

Im pretty sure it only consits of a couple float switches and two timers.

I have an entire kit from a shop, it works great. Im just tryin to put one together from scratch for a second room. I know it can be done for much cheeper than the store sticker price so im just seeing if anyone has any advice for putting it all together.

Float valves are pretty cheap man.  I mean you could save about 10 bucks all together maybe.

But here's a link if you are stuck on making it yourself.

Yeah i plan on buyin float switches, but im talkin about the whole system. pretty much the part that runs the pumps. like wireing the float switches to the timers to run the pumps from the "controller bucket" to the resivior and vise versa.

im new to all this forum stuff, so hang with me here.
