I used the same design with 3 17-gallon tubs stacked vertically with the bottoms cut out and I didn't have enough room after I initiated flowering- when she just about doubled in size. But this was before I knew about LST and a lot of other things. I don't doubt it's possible but I would stick with the 30 gallon. If you have extra space, you could fit a carbon scrubber in there.
Also, I would invest in LED grow lights to bypass any problems with heat, ventilation, wasted light (OrgoneConclusions has some really interesting info on utilizing light to it's potential), etc. I'd say 3 plants under 2 LED ufos with some LST would do the trick.
Well, I haven't posted in months on here but welcome to the Growery!

LST= light stress training http://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=1&Number=239247&fpart=&PHPSESSID= I'd recommend using the search bar at the top right corner to search the forums for teks and all sorts of useful things. At the bottom left, in Extra Information, you can toggle favorite for any thread you deem worthy of saving in your favorites in your account.
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=205747 you may find inspiration from this microgrow
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=39506 here is a design for a carbon scrubber
[Non]Odor is a very important element to stealth growing and if you're expecting 2oz of finished product per plant then there is more you need to research before spending that $100. I can tell you this, it's not worth doing it half-ass, especially considering the very serious consequences in non-medical situations.

I'm going to be doing the same thing adapted to a closet.
Also budnectar, I <3 your signature.
-------------------- In order to grow good weed you need to be part carpenter, electrician, plumber, biologist, geneticist, chemist, and very willing to get dirty. I've been working with power tools since I was 8, my dad is an electrical engineer who owned a 280 gal fish tank, and I studied biology with a specialty in genetics. Getting dirty comes naturally. I think my parents inadvertently trained me to be a weed grower. See what you think on my first try.

Budnectar thanks so much for the useful links. It has truely made me rethink the whole setup. I just so happened to find a guy with tons of lights and hydroponic stuff for sale. So anything I need I can get reasonably priced. I am however going to have to find more microbuilds to gather ideas.

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=51381&pp=15&highlight=lifeless is the link to what I'm wanting to do. Except after looking around wal mart today I did find a cheaper way out. If it'd work. He is running 4 42 watt cfl's. Those are $8.77 a pc at wal mart. And a 4 bulb vanity fixture is $20. So that's $60. However. A 3 bulb vanity fixture is only $10. And a 6 pack of 32 watt bulbs is only $16. So all together that's only $35 and the same amount of lumens as the 4 42's. Save $25! I have. Givin more thought do hydroponics and I think I'm just going to do a soil grow using the SOG method. I downloaded that book also. Fixing to check it out right now!
