What do you think of this man?
Keep in mind after his death, more violent acts in Colombia began to occur. He even funded the soccer team, which made it to the world cup (after being unknown) he also built soccer stadiums, parks, schools and even housed hundreds of homes for the poor. Even though he caused many acts of violence he banned kidnappings. (from criminals)
Then again he helped fuel a drug war in Colombia and he helped Americas coke problem creating many coke addicts and killed many, many people. Even innocent victims if they stood on his way of accomplishing what he wanted.
I feel as of he was a necessary evil, but your thoughts?

he was a drug lord. a drug lord is merely a byproduct of the system. there are many others like with him that are absent of his notoriety but they are there and will remain there until the laws are changed. he's just the top of a pyramid that represents an underground created by illegality.

-------------------- Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

The US Government could find this dude half a century ago with an airplane and some listening devices in no time. It took 10 years to find Osama.

I loved hearing/Reading about that shit. That's some bad-ass shit they did right there.
In my opinion, much like FB said, Druglords are a by-product of making drugs illegal. I'll also include Ron Paul/DD's general suggestion that the publicly/privately traded businesses could do the job better (and without being ass-holes about it).
What happens is that since drugs are illegal drug cultivation/production/trade can only be done on the black market, and by making it a black market only product you make it so there is a lot of muscle/force/violence involved so those in charge are going to know and be accustomed to acts of violence.

Ya, that's why it took all these to take him down
Colombian government with the help of the United States Delta Force, Navy Seals, the CIA, FBI, DEA, vigilante death squads, hired assasins supported by the Cali Cartel, as well as the Colombian military forces.
