Why is this plant so unhealthy?
    #594827 - 10/31/11 12:36 PM (5 years, 1 month ago)

This plant was left unattended for a week while the owner had to visit some relatives for one week. It was nice and healthy when she had left, now it looks like this...!

My friend has given it nutrients, and trimmed the roots to make room for some more soil; It is no longer root-bound.

What could be the problem?

It has been flowering for about 3 weeks, to me it looks like the leaves have been burnt. That is not possible because she isn't using any UV lighting and the temperature hasnt been over 20 C for a while.

If better pictures are needed to help diagnosis let me know.

No offence but sooo much is wrong with this plant.

You put it into flowering with like 2 nodes

It stretched a shit ton

You have like 5 good fan leaves.

You look like you have light or nutrient burns.

A bigger pot (not a coconut husk) would be a good start too.

Ok.. so ill tell her to change to a bigger pot, any other suggestions?

She was trying to be as discreet as possible because of very nosey neighbours so it was planted in august, this way it wouldnt grow very big before 12/12 daylight started.

When you replant it, replant it as high up the plant as you can. As a matter of fact (Might want to get an expert opinion on this) I'd almost think it better to pick up some root starter, pick that little bud off. And take a clone off each branch. Than put each plant under a 26+ watt compact flourecent for 24/7. These are super low key, and if for nothing else I can swear by them for starting a plant.

After you've devoloped a few more nodes and it starts to look smexy again throw it under 12/12 and enjoy.

If you want to try and save that plant I would flush it. Give it a real pot. Bury it as far up the stem as you can (These guys are like tomatoes, so long as you've not reached the leaves your fine). Put it under a compact flourecent or two. Make a dark area so you don't stress it with light leaks. Trim off the dead shit (that's just wasted space and energy to your plant). But yeah, that should hopefully get you started.

Nice one dude, we'll get on it tomorrow. It will be one of the smallest harvests ever but its still cannabis so I'm grateful.

I would use a garbage can, some are pretty tall.

Do you have good drainage holes? Idk how your soil didnt dry in a week :O

I was thinking 5 gal bucket, but a garbage-can may be needed.

And holy crap! 1 week to dry?! You've deffinately got nutrient burns. That stuff is probably just sitting inside that coconut rotting your roots away.

That being said, you might want to change your soil too.

I really would also consider trying to figure out how to re-veg her. But that's where you may need expert advice.

I'm not even going to start guessing here.
Please answer a few questions.
What kind of soil are you using?
What nutes are you using?
What kind of light are you using?
What's the ph of the soil?
It appears you have many issues going on there.

If that plant is 3 weeks into flowering then it'd be worthless to transplant into such a large container, root growth pretty much stops in the 4th week of flowering.

This thread was moved from Marijuana Cultivation.

Reason:
Sounds like a Dr. diagnosis question.  I'll leave a pointer and explanation at the old location.

No drainage, not enough light, and way too little love is killing your plant.  :frown:

But if thats true, and it doesnt depend on a lot of factors (genetics, stress that may have stalled the plant's development) then why do some plants take longer to mature then others?

OP if you can get a few cfl's going im pretty sure you can reveg it. There are 6gal trashcans at ace that are like 3ft tall.

2 42watt cfl - 20$
Y socket, other wiring depending on what you have ~ 10$
Said trashcan - 8$
Soil (anything WITHOUT time release fert.) 1 cu. ft. ~ 15$
Mirricle grow all purpose water soluable plant food - 8$
Perlite - 5$
PH test kit - 10$

Total - 76$
I prolly forgot something but untill flowering you should be set. Then you will need to somehow provide 12 hours of darkness..

The best part is, you can start new plants whenever you want to later on:)

YAY! More people on board for the CFL and re-veg idea!!!

Eventually get another couple lights and a fan for another 20-30 bucks.

Also I think its cheaper to do multiple 27 watts. But this also means more space.

An extremely cheap way to do it would be to get a fist full of plug to socket adapters, than split 3 ways on a power strip You could probably fit beteen 6 and 9 bulbs on a strip I bet. using y splitters of course, Can't use all the socket spots either, lest bulbs collide.

Thanks for all the knowledge!
Ok i just spent all my money on recording equipment so i can't afford lighting or fans... Here is my plan:
-Drill 3 drainage holes in the bottom of the coconut shell (improve the drainage)
-Take the plant out of the pot and losen all the damp soil, replace it with fresh multi-purpose compost
-Use my UV light on it for a few a hours a day. (the uv light is designed to only be on for a coouple of hours a day maximum, it is for curing Psoriasis).

What do you all think of this? any other suggestions?

You might get 3 grams off of this thing at the current rate and then again, you are more likely to get 0.  It is my opinion that any time or money you put into this plant would be a waste.

If you must continue.  drill 10 holes and replace the soil.  Good luck.

I agree. YOu could probably get away with even less than 75$ if you got creative. But if not I wouldn't even bother.
