Favorite book?
    #594548 -

Mine would have to be Siddhartha.

It is such a great book, if you haven't read it then read it now.
I love staying in and reading it, meditating, and :bonghit:

Stay Gold! One of my favorites too!

I've gotta say Hitchhikers Guide probably. The collection with all the shorts in one book.

I really liked Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Its like a darker Alice in Wonderland almost. The claymation movie is OK too, but of course the book was better.

Assuming that your favorite book means just one I'd have to say Post Office by Charles Bukowski but I'm pretty sure if I was trapped on a remote island forever then reading this book over and over would probably drive me mad.  That's not to say it isn't a really good book too.  Of course I could rattle off a dozen more books but this topic said Favorite book? not favorite books.

If so, we must include comic books and other magazines though. Which sounds like a good other thread though.

I'd have to say J.L. Bourne Day by Day Armageddon, I also enjoyed reading The Serpent and the Rainbow, by Wade Davis.

EDIT: judging by what wikipedia says it's nothing like the movie.

Raises more questions man.  Like what is Mad Magazine?  It has magazine in the title but its nothing but cartoons, art, satire, and parody.  Does that make it a comic book or a comic comic book or a magazine?

The Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs
Clockwork Orange
Alice in Wonderland
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
The Doors of the Perception
Rum Diary
Apocalypse Now
The Last of the Mohicans

Any books by Don Miguel Ruiz are also really interesting, they are about Nagual shamanism, just like Castaneda, but since Ruiz was born into that culture, he knows what he is talking about. Castaneda, during the writing of the books, didn't quite understand what he was writing, as he was learning at the same time.

God is not Great was pretty good... maybe... it was a little great too.  Well maybe not if you're a christian, jew, mormon, or muslim.

I dunno dude I don't think there's much shame in admitting reading the Harry Potter books.  The movies didn't do so well because only kids went to see them.  Besides I read those when I turned 20 just to see what all the hub bub was with all those Evangelists... After reading all 7 books I still don't fucking understand it.  Those christians can be pretty stoopid and crazy sometimes.  They aren't bad books(The Twilight series on the other hand is shit) in fact the last few had me turning pages really fast and enthusiastically especially that last one.  I read that one in two days and I've never read a book that size that quick before.

No need for embarrassment. I still like Harry Potter. Although after watching the movies with Rifftrax I'll probably never see them the same again.

Also - I forgot the Old Man and the Sea and To Kill A Mockingbird. I had to read both of them twice in high school because I failed english that year. I didn't mind though, I really enjoyed both books.

The Scarlet Letter was what made me fail. Fuck that book and fuck the guy who wrote it. I read 2 pages of it and told the teacher I wasn't coming back until the end of the semester.

I say the same about most movies rifftrax does.  Even the ones I previously liked.  But transformers is waaaaaaaaaaay funnier with Rifftrax.

Yeah as a teenager I was really hoping that book might be a little more erotic.  Who knew a book about adultery wouldn't have any fuckin sex parts. That would be like Mary Shelly's Frankenstein if all the monster did was wax emo and didn't kill anyone.  But at least Easy A was really good.

Ya the HP books were great. I never read all of them, pretty much cause the movies made it such a fad. The twilight series is shit! Movies books and all. Nothing about that series intrigues me in the slightest.
