Tangled Plant questions
    #592770 - 10/19/11 03:04 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

I'm not sure the plant on the right is growing how it should.

I tied it down and it is popping out branches all over, but it seems all tangled within itself.

the large fan leaves are blocking the tips of some branches and holding some of them down.

should I just not worry about this?

When I put into flower will the branches grow tall and towards  the light?

Another question I have is when you put a plant into flower does it grow more and taller?

or does it stop getting bigger really and just produce the flowers?

Also any thought on how long I should veg these for?

There on day 28.  They seem so much smaller and wider than most of the plants I see that far in veg.

The one on the left I was going to tie down but when I tried to bend it the stem cracked a tiny bit so I just tied a tooth pick to the stem like a splint and left it alone.  that one looks right to me.  The other looks all crazy tangled.

Closer look at the tangled one

Then I have the other that looks good to me

Anyone have thoughts for me on this!?

Looks like a normal LST plant to me man, the stems get really thick under the canopy when you tie them down, that's what you're trying to achieve!

When a plant goes into flower it will get alot bigger, and if your plant looks a bit weird now just give it a week to grow into the training and it will look fine, then you know its time to train some more.

Don't worry too much about the fan leaves blocking light, since you're training the plant to be low to the ground the light will penetrate through the leaves into the lower canopy/popcorn buds. If you're super worried then you can snip off one or two of the worst offenders but I've never seen a need to!

I think LST is best done when the plant is still young so you don't snap the stem. Whats the earliest you can start training.

Also, plants look nice phrostbyte!
And T-rex, those plants are crazy!
Are they yours? Very nice

I start training when I think they're big enough to handle it, but they have to be young enough to get at them before the stem thickens up, once that's happened you can only hurt the plant, not train it.

Thanks man yea they were, but the cops took them away from me

Ahhhh!  Now I see how its suppose to go!  Thanks

The roots of the 2 were all tangled also  I read that a 5 gallon bin really isn't enough for 2 plants so I decided to lightly pull apart the roots and put one in a different bin.  Now they both have there space.  I didn't have to work all that hard to get the roots appart so I think they should be fine.  I'm thinking about starting to flower them cause I just got a bunch of seeds from attitude and I could really use the space.

Yeah, I think putting 2 plants into the same pot is a bad idea. You don't want them fighting each other for nutrients. You will end up with one bigger plant, and a scrawny plant that is losing the nutrients war.

And as recommended by T-Rex, start LST training your plants as soon as possible before the stem get too thick and snap, so you get a nice bush with many colas on your plants. That's what I plan to do with mine, and you thread has given me some insight to what I can look forward to.

Cheers
