Made a deep water culture unit... Need opinions

So I made a deep water culture unit today... It is a spray painted black. smaller rubber made bin with 3 X 3inch bet pots in it.. Are they too close together? Is it a problem if the plant roots get tangled together?
the bin is 16" X 11" and about 8.5 inches deep.
any thoughts from anyone would be helpful.. this is for my first grow.

Depends on how much light you got, and how much you're looking to harvest in the end?
It'll work well, for smaller plants I figure, tho.

well I bought the 90w led UFO and I don't really have a whole lot of space so i wasn't planning on really large plants... I was planning on smaller plants and keeping clones going at the same time so I can replace the finished plants with the ready to go clones when I'm done.

should have used the dough you spent on that led and bought you an air-cooled 600w switchable lamp setup. used the same dwc setup years ago, but with a bigger tub and 3 6inch garden pots with holes drilled in em. three per tub staggered just like you have. worked pretty well. you will need to get a quality aquarium pump and some quality air stones to put in there. i'm running a superponics 16 site dwc setup right now. plants are really close together but they don't seem to mind being crowded.

Well I didnt have alot of space...
and the idea was to try to save money on my electric bill. 90w vs 600w is a BIG difference. I have seen GREAT results with the 90w ufo in smaller spaces.
I got a dual tube pump for the main bubble chamber
and a single hose for the cloner I made
For the main bubble unit I have 2 air stones
And the cloner I have 1 air tubing down the middle...
My idea is for the clones to be on the top shelf under a 15w 5000k bulb
and the bottom is the veg / flower under the 90W LED UFO.
Just hope it doesn't get too crowded in there... I picked kc brains crystal. Its good for indoors and suppose to be a smaller size plant.
