What nutes do you use?

List the nutrients you have used or are currently using, and your opinions of them.

BC's recipe for success, great for beginners, easy to use and follow directions with fair yields, and clean tasting product.  Does seem to lack when it comes to bringing out the full favor of fruity strains imo.

General Hydroponic Floranova, Flora Series, Maxi all do extremely well at giving you all your genetics have to offer in yield and favor.
I'm currently working with their Flora Duo so I'll hold back that opinion until a later date.  As for vegging it works just as great as the rest of their products.

fox farms nute line up.

Big Bloom
Grow Big
Tiger Bloom
Microbe Brew
Kangaroots

Open Sesame
Beastie Bloomz
Cha Ching

The Feeding chart is really easy. I started out with 1/4 of the suggested dosage on the chart and worked my way up. Once my plants got big enough they could handle a full feeding.

This is the first time i have actually fed my plants consistently through out an outdoor grow. So i don't have much to compare to. None the less i am very pleased with Fox Farms products.

Plus the solubles will last FOREVER @ a 1/4 tsp per feeding. same with the microbe brew and kangaroots too. Only a half tsp per feeding with those.

Honestly all of the big brand name nutrients are going to give great results if used correctly. The tough part is weeding out which products in their line are useful and which ones are a waste of your money.  Farmer Joe's post on Fox Farm is an excellent example. That's not even the fully FF line, but I would bet if Farmer Joe added another couple products he wouldn't see even a single gram of increased yield, and in fact he could probably ditch 3-4 of the products he's currently using and barely lose a gram.

Personally I grow with General Hydro FloraMicro and FloraBloom. I did a round with about 10 of their products all used as instructed, and actually yielded less than just using the Lucas Formula

I do the same only using the Micro and Bloom components of the GH Flora series with added silica, epsom salts, and Roots Exel in veg.

I'm not a huge fan of FoxFarm and to be honest I don't really think there's a brand of Nutrients I'd rather use over GH unless I wanted organic hydro which I'd use BioBizz for.

GH Flora Micro and Bloom are all you need and you can administer them however you like. As Harry said, he switched to the Lucas Formula just using Micro+Bloom and got better results than his 10 bottle feeding.

you can look for the posts under the hydro forum on ICMAG user name Lucas it's a sticky.

The Lucas formula is 8 ml micro 16 ml Bloom, the Coco version is 6ml Micro and 9 ML Bloom which is what I use.

I've gone as high as 11ml/22ml during flowering on some very hungry plants.

I did forget to mention that I use roots xcel, occasional superthrive and some powdered koolbloom occasionally though.

Damn I usually don't exceed 750ppms I think for the really hungry strains I'd go up to 1000ppms, regular 8/16 Lucas is 1300 PPMs

It was kinda just an experiment  I guess I honestly should have fed two clones side by side to see if the increased input resulted in elevated final yields but I was just fucking around rather than being scientific

It would be interesting to find the point of diminishing returns for nutrient costs (via volumetric variation) and light intensity (via your power bill) vs. final yields and growth rate.

I have used Fox Farm's

Grow Big
Tiger Bloom
I just added Big Bloom for my next grow

I still feel I have been underfeeding my plants, so I will push the next grow even harder with this new Trio.  The Duo was a great learning tool.

So, Harry_Ba11sach, for future grows as I continue to learn, are there any other products from the FF line you would recommend I add?
For that matter, any line of products.  I did throw in some Roots Organics Trinity on my last grow, because it was given to me as a free sample.

Is what you were using with the General Hydro FloraMicro and FloraBloom, and I did not know what the Lucas Formula was until Stoneth posted that like.

I will stick with the 3 part FF.  :getstoned:

I don't know how you would determine that there would be some variations between ideal PPM, ideal ratios, yield potential strain to strain, factors such as crowding / root space effecting yield, CO2 levels etc etc etc.

I believe less is more for nutrient strength and that the most important factor is ratios. I believe with lower concentrations 250-750ppm your nutrient solution having a higher disassociation works better than providing higher nutrient concentration and you don't need to deal with burning, ratios don't get out of proportion as easy,  you can run a single reservoir for multiple plants of various maturities easier, etc.

Chimera runs ppms as low as 250ppm but I think he's definitely sacrificing some yield at that point.

Exactly my point there. Increasing from 250ppm to 500ppm definitely increases your yield, but increasing again to 1000ppm might not, but you're spending twice as much money on nutrients. It would be interesting to catalog the drop off points.

It would be an interesting investigation but different cultivars would require slightly different ratios and nutrient concentrations to preform at their absolute best. I think it's safe to assume between 600-750 ppm for 90% of strains and possibly up to 1000-1100 for the hungriest of plants.

It would be easy enough to have 3 clones in spaces of identical size, with the same amount of light (adequate of course 50-66w/sq ft) and provide them with 500, 750, and 1000 PPM of nutrient solution of the same ratios and see what does best. I only see this being worth it if you grow the same variety or have a significant amount of room dedicated to one plant.
