Being talented doesn't have a direct correlation with a band being good. In my opinion, 311 sucks.

I have an eclectic taste in music, dumbass. Hip-hop, rock(classic, indie, modern[little bit]), electronic mostly.
By your logic: lyrics, in general, take no skill whatsoever? That's completely stupid. The art of linguistics is just as persuasive as the art of musical instruments.

in my opinion black people have different qualities and aspects that you could not get from a white person. for example, in my opinion, the funniest comedians are black.
but back on topic, i enjoy all types of music. i can't name one genre that i don't like a single song from. of course i like some genres more than others (not big on christian, country, or bluegrass), but i think it's close-minded to say rap sucks and requires no skill. even if it's not 'quality' music it still might be fun to listen to. open your mind a little.
and if it's so easy and requires no skill, why don't you do it? be the next 50 cent and make millions. i don't like 50 cents music myself (too pop-ish), however he is one smart motherfucker. it's not easy making that much money and he knows what he's doing.
