I  bought mine on ebay from hong kong for like $4 but it took literally  month to get here.

If you're not in a hurry, and as cheap as me, thats an option...

Theres also an option on ebay to filter out all sellers outside of the US, but they're usually more expensive shipping from here/Canada.

Seriously do not buy that radio shack scope.  That thing is such a piece of junk it's not even funny.

http://www.horticulturesource.com/product_info.php?products_id=9389

I have a scope that's very similar to that.  The illumination is a million times better than the radio shack scope, it's easier to get focused, and above all else, it's easier to actually use/see through.  My biggest problem with the RS scope is that I got a headache from using it each time due to me having to squint and constantly fuck with the magnification/focus.

Definitely worth the extra 10$ you spend.  Hydrofarm makes the one I listed as well as a few other in similar style.  All are very easy to find on online hydro shops so you can have it delivered to your door.  If you have a hydro shop in town chances are they have them in stock so that's always an option as well.

That scope looks exactly like the one I got from China, except mine is black and didn't come in a fancy box

I do have a hydro store in my town, but have not checked it out very much yet. would they carry these microscopes?

Got another question for ya guys, id greatly appreciate any tips or comments, even any pictures to help with a walk through
when i get the microscope, where aqm i supposed to examine the actuly bud, and which bud sites do i examine. also am i supposed to view every nug before i harvest them or will examining say like 5 of the nugs be enough to tell if the whole plant is ready to harvest, or itll only mean that the specific nug i am viewing with the microscope will be ready for harvest.
i should be heading down to pick up the microscope pretty soon so ill let everyone know how well it is, im sure it works well, but there are better out there. since its my first grow im gonna wait till next grow to go out and check microscopes and the hydro store. im sure people there will be way more helpful than radio shack, ill get back to everyone on how it goes.

All you have to do is look at the bud.
Focus.
You can't miss it.

I cut off a little sugar leaf to look at. A lot easier than trying to use one of those on a plant IMO.

Cut it off every week once it starts showing signs of swelling, and once its the way you like it, chop her down.

Do you really need that much magnification?  I figured a loop would work fine

I used a loupe up until just the beginning of this week.

I honstly can say I only ever could see about 5 amber trichs with it the whole time I owned it. These microscopes allow you to really see 100% of whats going on with no questions whatsoever.

For me, yes, my eyes are terrible and I don't get as good a look at them as if if use that microscope.  Everything is illuminated and I can set the sample down on a flat surface and put the scope over it.  Makes it easier to get a good look, prevents the sample from moving around, and I don't have to squint like a motherfucker to look at it.

Just went and picked up the microscope yesterday, finally had the time.
Cost around $15 but it varies at dif. stores. very easy to find, no questions asked either so that made it a whole lot easier.
i haven't come around to really using it et, they require to AAA batteries (which is another $5 at radioshack) but for around $20 im sure its worth it. i  was just playing around with it yesterday without using the light on it bcz i have no batteries yet, and i must admit it is a bitch at times, very difficult to focus an image while still keeping the image, unless you have VERY steady hands be prepared for a hassle. i'll update once i test it out with the light, but so far i recommend this to anyone, but if you have a hydro store in your area, i'd def. check them out first before going to RS. just my two cents, thanks for the help guys! I really needed to find a microscope. Harvest time baby:thumbup:

This makes no sense to me, it's a bitch to use, difficult to focus, and you need super steady hands to use it.  Yet you recommend people buy it?

These are the exact reasons I listed NOT to buy the POS scope from radio shack.  Shit for an extra five bucks why not get something that's easy to use?  To each their own I guess.

I was trying to point out, for how convenient it is to find, and (if like me) you need it very soon, then i recommend it. Okay, i was probably i little mis-leading, take in mind this is my first time growing, and first harvest, so i'm not surprised i had trouble with it, i'll only learn to handle it better with harvest's to come. This microscope is just short term, till a 2nd harvest comes along and i upgrade, i dont find this microscope that bad. But yes, for an extra $5, it might be smarter to find another micro scope out there. sorry for the confusion, never trust the word's of a first timer. Was just adding my 2 cents.

I hear ya, I was just trying to stop ya from wasting some cash on that crappy scope.  The radio shack scope does work when you get it to cooperate.  So when you finally do get your sample in view and in focus, it's a decent look at your trichs.  It gave me a lot of trouble and the light quit on me a few months later anyhow.  Only reason I bought this one is because the guy at the shop let me chop of a small sample from some random plant he had growing.  So I got to fool around with it before I paid the cash.

yeah man, now that's good service. You got lucky there, yeah man i got buds getting way too crispy so i got the first thing i could grab fast, cheap and no wait. It's fun as hell just looking at all the trichs and seeing how far along it's come.
Only downside is i got a hydro store one town over, shoulda checked it out.
