Secret is cool. I'd also recommend picking up some crystal meth for a short period to substantially increase your intelligence.

And from what I can tell it's a book mostly about "The law of attraction", which is basically, think good things and good things will come to you, or the other way around. Personally, I don't need any more books trying to offer me any form of delusion to try to make me happier

"The Secret" is pure garbage. "The secret" just ends up being "positive thinking" lol - positive thinking is good but it doesn't produce any results. shit won't just happen to you cause you think it will, what complete crap.

OP: You said you hated your job but now you're upset they fired you? Sounds like they did you a favor... View this as an opportunity to get a better job, go to school, or do something unexpected.

What people don't understand is positive thinking is the delusion. We normal people have all these cognitive defenses to protect our schema from changing.

yes i hated the job. it's virtually impossible to see this positively though. i made decent money. the economy is bad. really bad. i have no formal education (although i pride myself in being self taught in many things.
how/where am i going to find another job in this economy? the job was dealing poker which i have 7 years experience in, but no poker rooms here in las vegas are hiring. poker rooms are closing and casinos are constantly laying people off.
honestly i have neither the money nor the desire to go to school.
i feel a little confused and scared.

That's not to say you can't/shouldn't enjoy life. But, for me at least, no amount of positive thinking is going to uplift me from the world we live in, and the conditions some people have to endure. And all that bullshit.
I guess in that way it can be uplifting, knowing people have it much worse. But they shouldn't.
