have seen this in a local dispensary, was wondering if anyone has tried it, apparently its done the same way as butane hash but with liquid nitrogen

I think they're just feeding you a line of shit. Nitrogen and Butane have absolutely nothing in common, and furthermore nitrogen isn't a nonpolar solvent in any way. If it was possible to make this then your weed would just be dissolving into thin air on a regular basis. The atmosphere is 80% nitrogen after all

Liquid nitrogen isn't a solvent and would just cryogenicly freeze your weed, that's cool and all but it isn't much use for smoking.

Gases tend to lose their solubility properties. This is why people submerge their weed in solvents in their liquid state and not their gaseous state.

I keep reading about supercritical CO2 for extracting small amounts of plant materials (namely orange oil) because liquid CO2 is a fairly efficient solvent (must be kept under high pressure) and will evaporate off immediately.
Perhaps this is the same idea with the liquid nitrogen. i.e. it is not necessarily kept at its liquid state by temperature but rather by high pressure, and perhaps would make a good solvent.

Nitrogen does make a good solvent medium for marijuana. I am not 100% familiar with this method, but I have spoken with a number of people about it, and its just like using O2 or CO2. It comes out in a darker gold colored wax/bubble hash. I actually really enjoyed it, and it is healthier than butane for oils.

So I'm assuming what they really mean is that they're using N2O or NO2, not actually just nitrogen right (N2)? Sometimes stoner science is hard to decipher....
