Terence Mckenna
    #44707 - 06/01/08 02:32 AM (15 years, 9 months ago)

Is one of my teachers. Not personal teacher of course. But Invisible Landscape, Food of the Gods, and Archaic Revival have taught me a lot about the symbiotic relationship between humanity, tryptamines, and the "linear time-frame" which we exist in (among many other things).

Here's hours upon hours of his lectures in audio files hosted by one of my favorite websites:

:dna:

Enjoy!

I haven't read his other work, so I can't comment on that, but Food of the Gods really needs to be taken with a grain of salt. There are a lot of good points in there, which make it a worthwhile read. But Terence was never one to cite sources very well, and there appeared to be a lot of unreferenced hogwash in the book.

For example, when making the claim that ancient mexican indians ate psilocybin mushrooms in chocolate, he references the mushroom growing guide he and his brother wrote (under pseudonyms) as a source for this "fact". If it's actually true, shouldn't he be able to cite someone other than himself writing under another name? There was just a lot of stuff like that throughout the book that bothered me.

His brother Dennis, on the other hand, is very interesting, and doesn't share Terence's tendency toward the crazy.

It's a shame that after decades of work on his timewave zero theory, he won't be able to see 2012.
