Ever heard on this???????????
    #458827 - 08/12/10 12:39 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I built a hydro setup out out of small tubs. When I looked into the tub I saw the roots of my largest plant stuck in the intake filter on my pump. Is it ok to trim the root or is there another way to save the roots?

No this is bad, and you should put a screen over it.  Better yet, usually your pumps shouldn't be going that hard and should be extremely slow.  To slow it down get 2 pens and a rubber band and put a kink in the hoses.

defenitly DO NOT CUT the roots. move the roots and maybe put a screen around them like epicseeds suggested.

I cut my roots all the time without ill effects.

I had some roots growing out the bottoms of my containers they formed a mat under the pots. I had to cut them off. This isnt in hydro I have a lot of small square pots jammed next to each other with coir for the medium fed 3 times daily by hand.
