I guess some people can't get over their material possessions. Unfortunately we seem to elect them the most.

Sad but true. Any more regular people do not run or can not get enough money and support to run against the ones who are what is called now career politicians, they start getting groomed for the job back early in their life, and have the family and money ties to do it.
