Marijuana Compound Halts Breast Cancer Tumor Growth
Madrid, Spain: The administration of THC reduces the tumor growth of metastatic breast cancer and "might constitute a new therapeutic tool for the treatment" of cancerous tumors, according to preclinical data published online in the journal Molecular Cancer.
Investigators from Complutense University in Madrid assessed the anti-tumor potential of THC and JWH-133, a non-psychotropic CB2 receptor-selective agonist, in the treatment of ErbB2-positive breast tumors – a highly aggressive form of breast cancer that is typically unresponsive to standard therapies.
Researchers reported, "oth Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol ... and JWH-133 ...reduce tumor growth [and] tumor number [in mice]. ... [T]hese results provide a strong preclinical evidence for the use of cannabinoid-based therapies for the management of ErbB2-positive breast cancer."
In 2007, investigators at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute reported that the administration of the nonpsychoactive cannabinoid CBD limited breast cancer metastasis in a manner that was superior to comparable synthesized agents.
Previous preclinical studies assessing the anticancer properties of cannabinoids have shown that they inhibit the proliferation of a wide range of cancers, including brain cancer, prostate cancer, oral cancers, lung cancer, skin cancer, pancreatic cancer, biliary tract cancers, and lymphoma.

Yeah it's definitely a step forward, hopefully it starts hitting mainstream media that cannabis is anti-cancerous. Shouldn't be too long with all these new studies confirming it. Would be nice to see most of the U.S. pop. to realize how beneficial weed is, the government won't stand a chance trying to keep it illegal then.

The only real fight we have there is that main stream media will not cover things like that because the pharmaceutical companies are their biggest commercial time. Watch any news program and see how many pill commercials there is. these same companies do not want MJ legalized because they stand to loose millions if not billions because MJ would help a lot of the mental problems and high blood pressure and countless others, and like your post says cancer. They make money treating the problem not curing it. I am not saying it is the cure all but it is safer than a lot of the pills out there. Look at all the commercials that say if you or loved one suffered something or a fatality from taking this or that drug contact law office of such and such. Here is another piece of info, those law companies that have those commercials are paid for by the same pill makers to get you to basically settle for as little money as possible.

Yeah I agree, pharm. companies would lose so much money from marijuana legalization, I mean look at all the problems marijuana treats Cancer, Asthma, Alzheimer's, Glaucoma, Migraines, Anxiety, Insomnia, OCD. All of those are just at the top of my head, there are many more. Pharmaceutical companies would lose so much money that they put a lot of effort towards keeping it illegal. It's terrible that they would rather make money instead of having a medicine that treats things like cancer with hardly any negative side-effects.
