The only explanation is that we have been taking too much oil from the earth which everyone knows is the mole peoples only source of energy as they cant harness the sun as we are able to, so due to recent giant oil leaks (which are actually trillions of times bigger than reported) their underground network of living space, highways, fiber optics, and fuel has begun to collapse upon itself which could be the end of all humanity as we know it, the way i see it the only way to survive is to become subservient to the mole people and let them shelter you from the coming apocalypse
