khat is best grown in the ground as it has a very extended root spread and needs a lot of space, it's also said that the plants need to be around 3 years old to start producing bigger amounts of the active substance (meaning big enough to bother chewing it)
It grows slow and loves hot dry conditions, it hates over watering and the plant is active from day one. I have 3 types red, white and narrow which all have same growth SLOW
