To find my fan running but my HPS wasn't lit. It comes on around 8am and I usually wake up when it comes on. I am all like fuck! The bulb won't even start which makes me think its the ballast. I changed the fuse and nothing. I am going down to the grow store today to see if the $30 bulb burned out really fast but I doubt it. If anything I am going to have to buy a new ballast and that will be $100.

Yeah. So I took it to the grow store. Its a ballast issue. The guy told me to mail it into HydroFarm since its a Lumatek. FUCK!@! Whatever though. I don't get too mad. At least I still have a 4' shop light. I have moved everything into the tent and some things outside like my Pedro and my grapes that I had in my tent. I am either going to try and pick up a 600w Ballast this week or next week either off of Craigslist or eBay. A minor set back but it sucks because I just lost my job too.
I am just really really really lucky I had no plants flowering yet. I am glad I delayed my flowering a few weeks.

This is why I like to always have 2 lights in the same space. Instead of a 1,000W use 2x600W etc. That way if one of your bulbs or ballasts eats it while you're flowering at least you still have another light to maintain the photocycle, even if the light is more dim.

I don't know how the old the ballast is. I bought it in a Cool Tube combo off of Craigslist. The guy at the HydroFarm store said I could probably send it in because it may still be under warranty and even if its not, digital ballasts are not that expensive to fix if you send it back in. He said that it didn't matter that I bought it off Craigslist, that they could still probably fix it.
Does anyone know the correct info to contact HydroFarm and can they pm me? I tried to call them yesterday and left a message at Technical Support.
Honestly its looking like I am going to have to buy a new ballast one way or another.
I still have a fluorescent or two maintaining the photocycle. It sucks because rent is coming up but and I need to pay it but I NEED a new ballast. I might wait and get a 600w.

I'd lean towards rent needing to be paid first... Otherwise you might be without a place to plug that ballast in...

I will most def pay rent first. I am just waiting a few days to see what happens. I might try and sell a few of my clones and sell a bicycle or two  I need that ballast though! I have a interview on Saturday for a new job too so well see what happens with that.
