Ignore the LED setups for now. The only LED setups worth purchasing run 1000$+ easily, everything else is better off as supplemental rather then primary lighting.

Any idea why the higher priced units are outperforming the lower priced models of similar design? I'd like to make my own panels but, whether they be used as supplemental lighting or not I'd like to make them as good as possible.
I've been reading quite a bit about LED grow mechanics such as how the different wavelengths of light, measured in nanometers, emited by these diodes correspond with the peak absorbency ranges(in nm) of chlorophyll a and b. Different manufacturers claim success with varied spectrums and I don't mind experimenting to find what suits my needs.
I've found several seemingly reputable suppliers of the individual diodes online. They each claim to have the latest and greatest; I'm sure you know how that hype goes and I'm mired up to my eyeballs in a myriad of new terminology. I'm finding it very difficult to sift fact from fiction here and tbh I don't understand much of the industry jargon yet.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

This is a thread talking about building LED lights...
There is a post there by me that details what i think is wrong with LEDs currently...but I havent the time to elaborate...
after the 27th I will be glad to talk about it...as my schedule evens out after that...
