I took some pictures of my adventure today. I snapped a few photos of my new favorite location.
Anyways, this is a giant pit out in the middle of the woods near the canal. I guess they use this in case they ever need to take a bunch of water out of the lake, and its where they dump the sand they take out of the lake each year (so we don't have crazy sandbars).
For some reason, there is 100x more sand this year than I've ever seen there before. Last year, it was all grown in and not even a fun place to be. This year however, it was like a smooshy, sandy, wonderful desert XD
Heres a shot from Google Earth. This hardly does it justice, but it gives you a little bit of an idea of the area:
I also snapped a picture standing in the middle of the pit. You can't really tell the size from this one either, but its just another view for ya:
And finally, one that gives you a little perspective on how big it is. I climbed up the edge of the pit for this one, and had my buddy stand at the bottom for reference:
My buddy was actually standing right where I took the other picture from. Also note, that that is only about a quarter of the whole pit visible there (it loops around). The sand cliff I was standing on is the one that divides the pit in the Google Earth shot.
Anyway, that was my neat adventure for the day. Just wanted to share
