 In genetics we breed fruit flies. As soon as they're mature we drug the shit out of them 'til they're unconscious then kill them as soon as we're done recording their traits.
In zoology if we catch a specimen that we don't have or only have poor quality of we bring them back to the lab, fill a jar their size with ethyl alcohol, drop them in and seal the lid.
Strangely there's no appropriate smiley for this.
