Outdoor grow in cold overcast weather
    #369692 - 02/21/10 07:16 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

I live in california, but in a town that is very cold 50's - 60's throughout the year.Ive read that pot grows best at 68-78 degrees, so could I hypothetically grow in my area or would the plants die?
This might or might not be my town here
So Im not sure if its even possible with shitty weather like that, but I just wanted to ask here to see if any of the pros could give me some advice.Seems we get decent rain here and the humidity today says 70%, those are good things right?Theres a lot of forest area around my house and I know the area pretty good so finding a good hiding spot for my small garden wouldnt be a problem, most supplies I guess can be backpacked in.What strain if any would be good for my area?

Forgot temperature drops as much as 15 degrees at night, would temperature in the 40's be too much of a shock to the plants and kill them? How long would it be smart to grow the plant indoors before transplanting?I think starting the plants out indoors might be smart because more mature plants might survive better in the cold cloudy weather...Thoughts?

If the temps drop to 15 degrees at night it will kill your plants man.

he said that it drops 15 degrees, not that it drops TO 15 degrees.

looking at that link it says that the average minimum temperature during the coldest month is around 43 degrees, which is survivable for cannabis. your yields will suffer for sure but it's doable.

just don't let them freeze. the first night you have that gets below 30 your plants are done for

I want a green house someday. Like a big green house that is a controlled environment for the most part. I want it in the tree house I am going to build to retire in someday.

I would start your plants indoors and let them grow for at least two weeks indoors and then transplant unless its in a secluded area where you have to back pack everything in. I do that with all my plants that eventually are going to go outside.

A hot house is a sealed plastic covered and wooden frame hut that keeps temps in good range and circulates air to allow for a better adjusted environment.

A good idea is to go with Purple plants because their darker leaves absorb more light than green leaves and thus are better equipped for cooler temperatures.
I would start indoors before going outdoors, consider a green house (only if it’s on your property or a friends), and start latter in the growing season (like the end or begging of May)
