that's good. one of my roommates dislocated his ankle in a skateboard crash and had to wear a cast for 12 weeks because of all the tendons that tore and stretched. his doc said it was very unfortunate that none of his bones broke because his muscles and ligaments down there are fucked for good now.

Ugh that makes me shudder....

I've broken both ankles, and my right one 3 times...  Never needed surgery though.

You'll be back on your feet in 2-3 weeks no problem.  Just keep the swelling down and take Ibuprofen combined with elevation and ice.

I'm sure you know that though... haha

That's really interesting you say that because that's exactly how I broke my right ankle one time.  I fell off the board going fast with my foot planted perpendicular to the direction I was going and it instantly snapped upon contact with the ground.

After that accident I had to quit skating because every time I would hop off going any speed my damn ankle would roll over out of socket.  Skateboarding is one of the worst things for your ankles, along with skiing/snowboarding.

his story is such a bummer. he was working the night shift so he decided to go skating right after work one morning and ended up crashing in the bottom of a bowl. only problem is that nobody else goes skating at 6am on a tuesday because nobody else was working a night shift or whatever, he couldn't climb out because his ankles were both fucked so he just laid there in pain for 5 hours before someone found him! jesus it sounds fucking shitty!

on the upside, he just got his card and made me his caregiver, so he's gonna have piles of free weed coming his way to assist his recovery :vaped:

Yes.

That's a terrible story, but he is lucky to have such a good caregiver

You might laugh at this, but I'll tell you anyway.

So I was talking to my Mom and Dad this weekend, and they know I grow and everything Blah Blah Blah.  They approve of it (hippie parents ftw)

So they were talking to their really good friends from Texas, and My mom's friend ended up saying that her son is the same age as me, and all he does is grow "dope" all day long and doesn't have a job.  I thought this was going to be a "get your life together" conversation but instead she tells me this.  "So me and Jackie were talking about how our sons are the same age and only love growing weed, well Jackie bought her son a house to grow and live in, but he wants to move to Colorado so he can grow legally, and I told Jackie that you grow too and she ended up saying that she wants to buy a house for both of you to grow and live together in CO!"

I nearly shat my pants.  My parents didn't even know I planned on moving to CO in the next year or two and I told them that was my plan and I told her to see what the deal is and if we can set this up.  They are rich as fuck and I can really see her buying another house for this to happen.

I'm in shock

Damn son it looks like the pieces are falling into place for you!

I refuse to believe that snowboarding is bad for your ankles. I couldn't fathom how you'd hurt your ankle snowboarding because they're always locked in place by the boots/bindings and so you can't twist your ankles, your whole body must rotate. Skiing isn't too bad for your ankles either because the skis (depending on your binding adjustment) usually pop off when your ankles start to twist.
Albeit, snowboarding and skiing are terrible for your knees.

Glad to hear the good news though, to both Inerted and Triptonic.

No, thats exactly how your ankles break. If they are held in place they cant bend like they are supposed to and they break. Thats why you arent supposed to wear a lot of socks in boots and things.

I can't see my ankles breaking from boarding, and I've been riding for more than half of my life now.

Besides my board thrashes ice anyway.
Lib Tech ftw.

Did some googlein'. Apparently ankle injuries account for 16.9% of snowboarding injuries. Fortunately the risk of an ankle injury can be reduced by half if the rider wears 'hard' boots.  Ankle injuries are most often sustained by landing hard from jumps.
Makes sense because I don't really spend much time in the park.

You obviously don't know much about me then...

I've been snowboarding for 15+ years, but it's almost all been in the park.

Broke both ankles.  Don't overshoot a big booter, coming down from 15 or more feet to flat ground is bad for your ankles and/or knees.

Or your chin too, because I kneed myself in the face when my knees gave out.

Do you ride the mountains?  I love both the park and free riding.  Weed and a few cocktails make it 100x better too
