Look at all the fuckin branches and leaves! This weed branches at EVERY node, which makes for a beautiful overall bush, but goddamm is it going to take awhile to trim up

Way I look at is those smaller buds on the branches won't amount to much but good hash material anyways. Just chop the branches off and toss the buds in the hash pile to dry, then manicure the colas. Of course if you have any side branches which you feel will leave a nice dry bud, keep them. But if they're going to be tiny, airy, popcorn buds why bother trimming them.

this is how i would do i, and how i did do it a few months ago. now i've got like 3 or so pounds of trim (3/4 of a large rubbermaid container) that needs to be ground up and made into something good.
someone give me a good hash recipe.

Bubble hash would be the way I'd go if you want to process a large amount of trim at once. You could hand sieve it, but, that involves a ton of work. You could solvent extract it, but, that can be kinda pricey/lot of work/dangerous. Invest in a 5 gallon set of bubble bags, find a local med patient who has a set you can borrow, or bring your trim to someone who has bags and process it there. You'd honestly be best off investing in the set, over time they will pay for themselves

or does someone have a set of bags i can borrow and ship back? it's really not imperative that i do this now, although i am thinking i should grind it all up sometime soon and possibly make some butter and brownies for my mother with some of it. but hash would be nice for me.

Join Harry's cause, I believe he's looking for a set as well.
In all honesty you could probably make bags yourself for a hell of a lot cheaper. If anything, all you really need is a piece of silk screen and a a smooth surface to collect the resin heads from.
You'd want to buy a screen in the 70-90 micron range, you'll get the most quality hash with a screen this size. If you want to hand sieve you'll probably want to stretch the silk screen over a small wood frame so it's nice and taut (think bouncing a quarter off of it). Spare wood for the frame, or if you have one to spare, a nice sized sturdy picture frame can be modified. Then place the screen over your collection surface and put some trim on the screen. Rub the trim into the screen using firm but somewhat gentle pressure (you don't want to mash the plant matter into the screen, nor do you want to rip it). I wouldn't spend too long with each pile, maybe a minute or two. Don't throw away the screened trim either. You could always use it in cooking, or if you have some more time and cash later on, put it through either a solvent or bubble bag run.
You'll start to see the resin heads dropping fairly quickly if you're using high quality trim. Once you feel like you've collected it enough you can scrape up the resin, funnel it into a small cellophane bag (plastic bottom on cig packs), then with some heat and pressure you can form the loose resin into a nice slab of hash to smoke.

hrm, making my own bags seems easier and i'm already pretty crafty so i could probably do it without any major problems. or i could just save up some money and buy a set of bags. like i said, it doesn't NEED to be done any time relatively soon, but it would be nice.

All you need is some sturdy canvas, some silk screen of varying micron size, and some decent stitching skills. That's all bubble bags are, just silk screen and canvas, just make each bag a little larger then the last and go down in micron size as you move up in bag size.
If the people at the art supply store is don't know what a micron is, just ask for mesh size instead (tighter mesh = smaller micron).

Patience!
It usually takes me about 8 hours to trim 4oz.
With that said I also trim off EVERY leaf possible... It really makes a big difference in bag appeal and how smooth the smoke is when cured.
Less leaves = Smoother smoke
I usually cut any fan that has a leaf stem long enough for me to get the scissor tips into the buds to snip them off out of view from the outside of the nugget. If that made any sense. I cut them off below flush with the surface so there is less stem material in the finished product. It all goes to hash anyway right!? Personally I like my buds to be leaf free.

Unfortunately that's how many of the plant's I have grown have come out. The bud will be great, you just won't get the yields you thought. It happens all the time. Not that many strains have really high Calyx to Leaf ratios. Check this bagseed, it's got the same issue.
I ended up keeping a sack of just the sugar trim and smoking it while the nugs cured. It got me stoned as fuck, just a liiiitle harsh.

Supplies you need to get decent hash, without bubble bags.
1. Mixing bowl (bigger the better)
2. panty hose (get a couple packs there pretty cheap)
3. Mirror
4. dried trim
5. razor blade
6. sullofane from cigarette pack
Now what we do here is put your shake preferably right out of the freezer, pack as much in the mixing bowl as possible(leave enough room for shake to shake) , now we slip the panty hose over the mixing bowl. Now we turn the bowl upside down and shake repeatedly over you mirror for 2-3 minutes per full mixing bowl. Now that we have done this you take your razor blade and scrape the resin glands from the mirror, and put this matter in your sullofane, now just repeat until you are satisfied with the amount you have, now all thats left to do is press it with your fingers. The heat alone from your fingers should be enough to work it together. Now I am not saying this is going to make some bomb hash or anything but this shit will put you out on yor ass. This is what I usually do with my leftover trim, So if you dont like this method try a different one this is just one that I can use and get pretty good quality hash with for cheap.

Pantyhose works in a pinch, you just have to be careful using it. It tends to rip pretty easily if you're not paying attention or you stretch it too taut.

Sorry but no pics but the water thing don't work to well, like coda said panty hose rips very easily but they are cheap. I do get a decent amount can't say that I have weighed it to get exact ratios or whatever but i'm telling you very cheap with pretty good quality, and if you really wanna spice it up a bit more which I have also tried is to make honey oil and mix it with your leftover resin glands that are on your mirror or in the sullofane, and you get a bad ass smoke that sends you to space for hours. If anyone tries this tell me what you guys think Hope I helped a few peeps out here with this.

Honestly I wouldn't bother with trying to use panty hose as a bubble bag substitute. Seems like the water would stretch the mesh of the panty hose too much, and the weight of the water itself may be enough to tear it.

I thought the same thing.
Maybe if you have no other choice you may try doubling up? Or say using small containers such as a mason jar and doing multiple smaller runs...

i may try this with a small amount of the trim i have. i asked a friend of mine if he knew anyone who had a set of bubble bags that i could borrow and he said he'd ask some people. hopefully he can find someone who does because that would make it so much easier.
