So I have been looking at DWC and other hydro systems that use air stones/tubes at the root zone. I was wondering about the size of the pump that one would use. Is there ever an issue with too much air? One of the possible systems I have been imagining would use a medium size storage bin for around 4 plants.
It really depends on the system. Both of those pumps look like overkill to me, but if you're doing a 4-6 plant tub, I rekon the luft pump would be more than enough.
See, I'm not 100% sure the plants really benefit from a ton of oxygen. I was reading about this test recently done with Pakchoi and Chinese cabbage in a DWC, it seems that different levels of aeration has no effect on growth rate what so ever. So really, I think it's just to keep your water clean and to keep your plants from drowning. However, cannabis could be different.
In any case, the luft pump should be more than enough. Looks pretty nice too! I like the fact that its rigged up with vibration dampeners.
