WTF pH indicators

Ok, this is ridiculous. I was working yesterday and we just got in a bunch of digital pH indicators and I decided to play around and find out what was the best to use.4 I started with paper test strips because in our lab that's pretty much what everyone uses. I told my boss that I thought the strips where worthless but she said she uses them all the time. Long story short is strips consistently never worked. The digital sticks suck because you have to constantly calibrate them. I see how the digital stick would be good for testing runoff where the water is brown and solution wouldn't work. Digital seemed practical in the lab because we have gallons of 4,7 and 10 pH calibration liquid. For home use I wouldn't want to use it. Anyways the reason I made this thread is because we order liter bottles of pH indicator solution for 22 bucks. Today I was looking around to just buy from an online source and its nowhere! I can't believe the markup on the stuff.

LOL, I just read in my solution preparations manual that you mix .1 gram of powder to make 500mL of solution. The powder we buy is listed for 8 bucks for a 10 gram supply.
Ok, I'm done ranting now. I just can't believe how much the general public is getting ripped off.

I never had any problems personally with the strips...It takes a little work to get good at using them but once I figured it out I have no trouble.
Could be the strips though
