Guitar Amps
    #285959 - 09/24/09 10:33 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I am in the market for a new guitar amplifier.  I've got a fender strat that id like to start playing again.  Looking for something in the $350-400 range.  I know there are some good guitar players here.  What would everyone suggest?  I'm not sure where to start these days.

He's got a lot of good ones.  Does marshal make a decent one in that $$ range?  I'll do an ebay and amazon search.  what's a 30 amp?

it draws 30 amps of power....
if you have never played an electric you may even want to start lower....
and yes...
clearly in that price range........

ps...
the only reason i noticed is because i finished reading cosmos at work today...

gotcha!  As a side note i've had this guitar for over 10 years now.  I got it in high school.  We used to jam quite a bit.  Took a college course in guitar that was cool.  I just haven't played for years and feel like picking it up again.

if you want to spend all the money on one thats fine...
but if your just starting out...
you dont need that much quality.......

that aside...
crate halfstack for $500!...
nice...

it's in my gallery.

you can get cheap ones too and they still sound good. go on craigslist im sure you can find something. actually, if you have a guitar center around where you live at, try to catch them during a red tag or green tag sale. i got a 900 dollar guitar for 400 and a 1100 dollar amp for 500 during two different sales. its all about teh timing. :yesnod:

best 25w amp i can think of, is the Peavey Rage 258 efx, has an optional footpedal that stores up to 6 of the built in effects prests. its a great little amp for even practicing at a decent level with a drummer that has restraint. lol

I can recommend peavey for a nice little practice amp.

you know what i did in english class? I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.  :twobooks:

i used to have a late 70's or 80's solid state Rage 158, till my ex put her foot thru the speaker, and broke off hte imput jack :frown:

that's what led me to buy the 258, the 158 had the best built in distortion of any amp i'd heard, and back when i had just started that's all i wanted to hear. but the 258 has a really nice clean sound too, i can turn down my tone and treble and stuff, and almost make it sound like a bass guitar, with the octave thingy it has built in.
