Have you tried super cropping?
I had great success with this.
I just started flowering under CFLS.
And when i was in veg i had the same problem,
my plants were growing slow and not much secondary
growth was happening.

but yeah supercropping helps
and you wont lose your colas

the veg will be a little longer tho
