anybody who knows anything about dogs
    #208111 - 03/23/09 08:47 PM (15 years, 8 days ago)

my friends dog has had some really fucked up problems lately. he's taken it to the vet and aside from like multiple thousands of dollars worth of tests they said there's nothing they can do. anybody have any idea as to why the dog may be shitting blood semi-regularly

Maybe an ulcer?
Perhaps the dog swallowed something sharp.

The dog needs the equivalent of an intestinal viewing via camera tube, or even an MRI.

Dog might have hemorrhoids, or worms. Any other symptoms?

nah, she seems really happy go lucky, playful, and full of energy like any other puppy. she just every now and then will squat on the carpet and have bloody pooh. she's house trained too and doesn't do it any other time cus she knows better. she acts really embarrassed about it when she does it but she can't really help it

Well then, back to the sharp object/bone suggestion, it is possible she could still be passing it.

Also, the fact she is going in the house, and not where she usually would is a behavioral clue. This means she has a sense of urgency and loss of control over when she can go. This may still be a parasite, if you could get a stool sample tested it would be best.

Wait, silly question... IS this dog fixed? If she is a she, and still a puppy, it could be her "period" or rather in heat.

yeah, it is a she and she's not fixed. but it's not her heat/period. the vet has atleast said that. and they did run a stool sample but nothing really came up. they gave some expensive ass prescriptions and a new kind of food but it's not really working. and yeah since she's goin in the house it's like she can't help it but it's just a fuckin mystery. sucks seein her all sad and shit too. she's still very playful just not completely happy you know

that sucks man...i love dogs. i think it could be something sharp if they did a stool sample and it came back negative. they say dogs aren't supposed to eat chicken cuz of the bones. i know you said it's been a month or two but maybe it was lodged in there somewhere and the problem is just now manifesting itself

Yea, well the vet would have detected something, or at least know if its a disease like Parvo...

My suggestion would be maybe trying and helping her diet. I am not a licensed vet, so it is at your own risk you take my advice, but garlic is indeed NON toxic to dogs, and just like in humans it can cleanse the blood, and clean out the intestines if there are worms or some sort of parasite. Giving her a couple cloves before or with her breakfast may be something worth trying. Also, always look for changes, new symptoms and such...
And best of luck, hope she gets better.
