I was thinking about a German Shorthair for bird hunting...It's on my list...I have a list of about 3-4 dogs and it's one of them.

I had a Doberman/Rottweiler mix as a kid, but that was before I had my digicam...
so I don't have any pic's to share of Cleo (or before that, Prince of the same breed). 
This is my sister's Husky/Shepard mix that they've had ever since it was about 12" long.
Super awesome and gentle, I love Mischa like she were part of my own family!

Me and my dogs get an understanding real quick who is boss...What will be allowed and what won't. Dogs are very smart. They smell scents and can tell when their owner isn't happy just by that.
For example mine knocked over a drink the other night and he immediately knew he was fucked...And he had never done that before.
I didn't do anything to him as long as they know it was wrong I'm okay with it. I was hard on my dogs for the first year but now they are awesome.

yeah you definitely have to be a hard ass, especially with high energy breeds. it's going to be stressful no matter what though. mine knows who's boss, and what does and doesn't make me happy, but he is just teeming with energy and the only way for him to be well-behaved is to spend hours with him every day expending that energy and giving him tasks to do, things to focus on. he's extremely intelligent and learns quickly, but if i don't give him something to do, he gets into trouble..
my other one is the exact opposite. mellow, gentle, chilled out.. and they are the same age.

my Tinzer is my littler snuggle bug. she even tells me she loves me. and i mean it, she literally says "i love you". Bruiser can say "i'm hungry" when it's food time (he gets very excited) and "outside" when he has to potty; he's very smart. Bruiser and Tinzer are brother and sister, they are 6. Bailey is a spoiled brat, but she's also the most loving dog i have ever met in my life. she'll be 16 soon, and that makes me kind of sad, because i know she's only got maybe 2 more years left on her and after her being a part of my life for 12 years, it's going to be very hard when she finally goes. however, i will enjoy what time i have left with her and give her all the love she demands (which is quite a lot).

oh yeah, i'm gonna be devastated. she's been there for me for all the really hard things i've faced in my life, including the time i spent a month in the hospital due to a bone infection which almost killed me. i missed her so much my mum snuck her into the hospital to see me, acting like she was a therapy dog (which was totally believable because she's so mellow and loving). i've had a lot a of good years with her though.
i still miss my pitbull/dingo mix, Ozzy, though. he died of cancer a little over a year ago. he was a gorgeous dog, super intelligent and loving. i miss him still.

Well, my dog isn't really loving.....But me and him have our own bond going on. He isn't mean he's really chill but he isn't loving like you picture most labs. Me and him hunt together and that's the only reason I hunt anymore. He loves getting up at 5 oclock to go hunt. I feel like I have to keep taking him.
I have a couple of other dogs but to be honest they are just...Dogs. The one above will do anything to please you the other 2 are just pain in the asses. I still treat them well but we just don't really do much.

I hunt ducks mainly. I used to deer hunt and all that other stuff but I'm not a huge hunter anymore. I'll still go here and there but I mainly duck hunt for my dog. I don't know why he likes it so much.
