Sitting here taking a toke, and it dawns on me that is not good that I been growing my lil tiny weed sprout on 12 hours of light from the beginning, since that is the amount of light used to signal flowering. I have a set up for some LW and Kanna going on 17 hours right now. Would switching the weed over to that be better?

Yes.
Even when running 12/12 from seed, it is advisable to run the lights on for at least 16 hours during the seedling stage. More light, faster growth (to an extent).
16/8, 18/6, 20/4, or even 17/7 would all be acceptable.
