New Grower on Accident
    #846229 - 07/27/20 08:30 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Hope everybody is doing as good as possible during the RoRo.

(Pics posted in reverse order lol)

I have a comment/question (I’ll try to keep it short).

Early June I believe, I threw some seeds (a sack I had, had three seeds) into a strawberry pot because the strawberries had died, I was thinking what could come of it.

Well fast forward 15 June, Pic 1-2, and this was growing out of the pot.

At that point I decided to “clean” the pot of all the dead strawberries.

June 17, I’m posting because the plant was hanging on a back balcony. I think it was stretching for light. I moved it and here it is, Pic 3.

June 24, it started to look as if it was simply needing light. It’s starting to actually look like a cannibal plant at this point, Pic 4.

So fast forward some time, and this is July 12, Pic 5.

And after some trimming the dead leaves and branches that looked like that were dying, this was today. 27 June, Pic 6.

I said all that because I have questions....

1. How damn old is this plant? I didn’t watch it from seed to Pic 1 so I have no idea.

2. What stage does my plant look like it’s in?

3. If it’s not in flowering stage when will I know it is?

4. The internodes have a spade looking thing and one of them I saw a thin white hair (I could have been making myself see it). Can you tell the sex of it from the pics?

5. Any advice?

Can't tell sex from those pics, but what you describe sounds like a calyx and pistil, so it's probably female.  I'd watch closely for male parts though as it is from bagseed, which is usually caused by hermaphrodite pollen.

You'll know your in flower when you start seen clusters of pistils.  Just be patient.

My advice, if you want to take this seriously, is to invest in a nice garden plot.  If you have good soil you can plant in ground.  If you don't, you can set up raised garden beds and fill them with a custom organic mix.  Stay away from soils with added chemical fertilizers.

Thank you for that. From the looks of the picture, do you think the pot is big enough? If not how do I safety transfer her to another pot?

I think it will have to do, as I can't imagine transplanting out of something like that.

Just keep it happy for another 2-3 months!

We must live at very different latitudes, as your plant has just started flowering and mine have about 2 weeks left to go.

I'd watch for caterpillars and other pests, and bud rot later in the cycle if it gets wet.
