Again, I'm not claiming that LED's are better than HID's
HIDs will probly produce more bud. I know this. What I am saying is that people that cant put a 1000W heater in their closet and keep the temperature below 90, can grow a nice little head stash or a decent amount of bud with an LED light.
Right now, if you can afford the electricity from adding cooling costs and increased energy consumption of the light, and you have a good enough cooling/ventilation system, then HID lights are cheaper and a 600W HID is probably going to outperform a 120W LED.
But right now I am running a 90W and a 120W LED (equivalent to a 400W and 600W HID) in my 2.5x7 foot closet, and an 80W fan, and I can run 24/0 in veg, close the door at night, and it will be 85 degrees in the tents in the morning. Let me stress that this closet is vent-less. I don't think that i would be capable of growing the amount of bud that I can grow right now, with 1000W of HID lights. Its simply a matter of convenience. They cost more and perform slightly below par, but just because that is they case doesn't mean that they don't work.
To everyone out there that has a small, poorly ventilated growroom not suitable for a 600W HID, LED'S WORK FOR MARIJUANA. Maybe not as good as the HID counterpart, but they DO work.

I personally like what I'm seeing with the LEDs.
Granted their not perfect as of yet, they will no doubt be the future of growing indoors.
I'm planning on adding a couple 50w panels to my flowering grow to go along side of my 400w HPS.
Can't wait to see the difference in harvest after that.

wow that is overpriced. you can get a 400w lighthouse blackstar LED for the same price on ebay.

Lots of bad advice.... get a 315w CMH. Best spectrum, watts, yeild, and fuck led. Unless your growing a herb garden, and then your basil will be great! Lol, he said led....
