Tonight I'm going hog hunting. I've never been so it should be a blast. It's unlimited but I have to take what I kill.

Oh hell yes, you doing catch work with your dogs? Hog dogs are the true definition of a working dog. I'm scooping up a couple Patterdale terriers

not my dogs unfortunately. I don't have time for that. However i have some friends who run dogs on horseback. They have a dozen or so bay dogs that are usually curs and hounds and that sort of shit. They usually have 1 to 2 pits they use as catch dogs that love to jump on the ears.
My pops and his buddy have a few acres in the rural southeast that border a huge swamp and a bunch of cotton fields surrounded by levees. WE generally set up a perimeter around the levee while they run dogs through the swamp and the cotton fields. The farmers are totally cool with it. We also set up on tree stands in the woods, try to cover the area. The dog runners will usually get a half dozen to a dozen hogs over the course of the day one at a time baying and catching and then sticking them with a knife.
The tree stand and levee folks usually kill way more with deer rifles bc the dogs usually bust up big packs that scatter and try to escape the swamp...but the only way out is through the cotton fields so after harvest happens you can see for hundreds of yards around the perimeter.
that particular day a party of 20 people killed 32 pigs and caught 3 alive.

That's bad ass, man. Yeah, I know farmers are totally cool about having/inviting hunters clear some pigs off their property. Pigs are a nuisance and destroy crops and land.
