Dialing back the light schedule dramatically during the last week before harvest?

Instead of the typical 12/12 on/off what about if someone did 8/16?

So 8 hours of light then 16 hours of darkness?  Is this a good idea to do; and if not, why not?

If your trying to save power. More light typically means more energy which means more cannabis. If have a dialed in strain maybe be worth it to save power of did it after buds are bulked and last week of just rypening. Other then that dont know if any advantage amd possible large disadvantages..

I'm under the impression that when the cannabis plant is in darkness, there's growth; but a different kind of growth then when it's in the light. I remember reading something of increased root growth or especial uptake of resources/nutrients (I think I read co2) which I would assume to mean it would affect production of chemicals; I was thinking of a change, like maybe producing less chlorophyll, and maybe more terpenes/trichomes?

Yes there is krebbs cycle but i dont think its excusively at night either. 12 hours is more then enough.

If it did make it better AND saved power real shows would be doing that as would be huge savings. But they dont. Mo light mo better. Ur not reinventing the wheel man.

Some people ssy pure dark last few days but that is debatable aswell. I could see perhaps help preserve some terps esp monoterps or lighter ones. But likely neglagable at best.
