Police and state officials have shut down a day care facility on Norfolk Street after inspectors discovered more than 600 marijuana plants growing in the backyard.
Police were called to 159 Norfolk Street after state inspectors from the Department of Public Health discovered the marijuana plants during a routine inspection. Officers from the West Haven police departments Street Crime Unit arrived and executed several search warrants of the property.
The plants, measuring between six and 10 feet tall, were found in the backyard of the daycare center within what police described as a "newly erected wooden fence."
City housing inspectors shut down the facility and revoked its license, police said. Arrests, they said, are forthcoming.
