 Couple arrested after offer to trade pot, mushrooms for Xbox

CHADRON, Neb.
—A Hay Springs couple was arrested Sunday after responding to an online ad for an Xbox.
The Nebraska State Patrol said during the week of Dec. 8 that Christopher Ames, 30, told the seller via text message that he didn't have any money, but he would be willing to trade marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms for the gaming system.
The seller was a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol.
Authorities began an investigation and arranged for the trooper to meet Ames and Casandra Agnes, 26, in a parking lot in Chadron.
During the meeting, the couple was taken into custody without incident after giving the trooper six grams of marijuana and two psychedelic mushrooms in exchange for the Xbox.
Three children -- ages 2, 4, and 6 -- with the couple at the time of the deal were placed in protective custody.
Ames was held on counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacturing a controlled substance and child abuse.
Agnes was held on counts of aiding and abetting the consummation of a felony, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacturing a controlled substance and child abuse.
