theres a few reasons here in colorado.
1, if you live in a city like colorado springs, like i do, recreational marijuana sales are banned. it's still legal here. you just cant buy it at a dispensary unless you have a red card (mmj card)
2, even if you live in denver or pueblo, where rec sales are allowed, the bud quality sucks, it's more expensive, the tax is way higher, you can only possess a certain amount, you can only grow a certain amount, and you can only buy edibles less than 100mg in strength.
3, its like $65 to see a doctor and $15 application fee to the state to get a card good for one year, so you can buy at any medical dispensary in colorado and pay ~7.35% tax
medical is taxed at a low(er) rate, around 7.35% while recreational is just above 30%
it just makes sense.
plus i have a higher plant count and weight count on my medical card. state medical minimum is 6 plants 2 ounces, i have 25 plants and 8 ounces. plus when you're medical, theres no limit on how much hash you can possess. the weight limit is for flower only, not hash or edibles.
