I'm thinking of turning it all into edibles, is there any possible concerns of doing this? maybe just make a concentrate (solvent hash) or are the buds actually fine to smoke?

It's just fine to smoke dude. Might be a little harsh. But over all there will be nothing wrong with it.

I've heard that unflushed stuff burns to black ash while well flushed stuff burns to grey or white ash.

I for one wouldn't accept that without some evidence. I for one was just smoking a friend's bud and it was crackling as he was hitting it(which people say indicates a bad flush) and the ash was pure white.
