Harvesting cannabis leaves for rolling purposes
    #74791 - 07/07/08 12:50 PM (15 years, 8 months ago)

Is this process possible? My friend read in an autobiography called "Confessions of a Dope Dealer" where the author worked on a marijuana farm and there is mention that he would roll blunts with the leaves from the plants and use hash oil as an adhesive sealant. I wanted to know if there was an actual process that I could harvest some of the main fan leaves and use cannabis leaves for blunts rather than cigars.

Yes, traditional thai sticks were prepared this way.  Except the bud was rolled up in a fresh leave, oil used as a sealant, and then left to dry.  Trying to roll a joint dried leaf will probably prove fruitless, and smoking a wet leaf will probably taste like shit or not burn properly.

In all honesty, it's not worth it.  A big reason being that fan leaves are pretty damn harsh to smoke as it is.

wow! i didnt think it would that much more harsh, especially compared to 2 leaves of tobacco paper from a standard Dutch or Phillie. and i could only imagine how delightful it would taste in comparison, but i suppose i thought wrong :frown:

go outside and smoke leaves off a bush

that's likely what fan leaves smoke like

rolling blunts with gars isn't bad at all if you do it right.

Aside from the water content within the leaf, the chlorophyll left in makes for an unpleasant smoke.  If you took the time to dry and cure it right it wouldn't be so bad.  Another problem is thickness, you already mentioned blunts, look at the thickness of a rolling paper.  You can literally almost see through them, so the amount of paper you smoke is smaller compared to a leaf.

It's definitely possible to do so, but i couldn't see this as being too pleasant.  It would be fun for novelty purposes i suppose.

It explains more in detail what you just said.

Nicotiana tabacum has a good bit of chlorophyll in it before curing and aging. The article does say that a good aging is important. However the leaves for rolling with a good cigar are always shade grown to make them more supple and I believe slightly thinner. A Philly is the shit don't get me wrong, but as far as cigars go is crap. I enjoy beedies which are gently roasted leaves. You may be able to do this to give the leaves maybe a more pleasant taste. All I'm saying is that I think it could be doable. It doesn't take a master to brew good beer or wine, but to do it with true craftsmanship is totally different. Crafting a fine smokable is the same. I would think a nice cedar box would help with character at some point. If you did it right I have a feeling that it might be quite delectable.  :bouncysmoke:

Not to mention the idea of doing something like that yourself with your own leaves from the same plant the bud is from, and doing it well, is a good idea to entertain while toking. :bigblunt:
