Most appropriate container size
    #689978 -

Hey guys. Quick question,

I'm wondering what the most appropriate container size would be, if I were to do some LST and then flower around 10 inch to a foot tall?

sorry just dawned on me, I guess it would depend on the amount of LST I would be doing...

I'm thinking of just lsting about 1 square foot then flower while they are still pretty short

You can do pretty well with a half gallon, but you need to feed it like mad. I just chopped this one right now, did not expect to get this much out of the plant whatsoever, but I stuck 2 blumats (auto drip feed) in each pot and the roots grew masses right up to the hose to get the nutrients as they came out. Canna coco nutrients,in a soilless mix that had a small amount of time release fertilizer. I fed them pretty much full strength the whole time and they loved it.

Its usually pretty hard to get this much out of a plant in that small of a container unless you've got your environment in check and running hydroponic. Soil would be a bit trickier, its the hydroponics that allows the plants to soak up the nutrients like a sponge. Small containers need to be watched much closer and its generally not recommended for beginners to start with undersized pots that may dry out too quickly.

Typically I would say that for soil you would want to go with ~3 gallon, but get a 5 gallon pot so that it is a little wider and fill it up with 3, plus you can always add more if you want to see if it makes a difference. You generally want about a gallon of soil for every foot of final plant height. A good goal is that you will want to get about a dry ounce out for each gallon of soil used.
