pruning excessive root growth?
    #686693 - 09/29/13 06:00 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

in my aerofarm the plants have developed huge amounts of roots into the reservoir, is it ok to lift the plants up in their pots and cut off the most roots at the bottom? its like a jungle down there! if yes, how much of the roots can I cut without harming the plants?

You can trim them.  But I wouldn't.  The bigger the root system, the bigger the buds man.  If they are outgrowing your system, you should flower earlier, or get a bigger system

Not if you are giving them proper aeration

mh actually my system is closer to a DWC after what ove read - its a very basic rubbrmaid style aero tub design with a simple nute container, water pump and sprinkler that sprinkle the roots which hang in the reservoir.

You should get an air pump with an air stone and throw in t the bottom of the roots.

Trimming promotes new growth in the roots.... don't know about the rest of the plant.

There was a really long discussion about root trimming in MC a little while back. It's a juicy thread in terms of content, so reading through it might yield some insightful info: https://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/677480#677480
