Reishi
    #685491 - 09/17/13 09:24 AM (10 years, 6 months ago)

i am wondering what the PH is for reishi tea.I am surprised that google doesn't have an answer for that.I'm sure it varies but there has to be an average for dark/light teas.

is  anyone here who drinks reishi and a way to test ph ?we are descendants of the shroomery rigght?

also if anyone has an input on reishi tea for a nutrient source for plants lets here what you have to say.

I've never heard about this before.  I would recommend, as much as I hate to say this, asking over at the shroomery.

i guess you might be happy to know that they had no clue either.
After doing more research myself i did find atleast one website that claimed reishi tea was 7.2

i already watered 3 plants with a potent tea+ sugar+ black coffee- they didnt die

i got the idea from running out of nutes/being cheap.
I have a bunch of ganodermas that i picked off the street and dont want to ingest because of car and dog shit.I also have a bunch from china(fuck china) i would rather just use the one i pick in the woods and i dont want to waste anything.

these are some of the things that reishi does for humans
http://eco18.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/7.28.11-Mushrooms-chart-insert.jpg

www.drugs.com/npp/reishi-mushroom.html-
"A peptidoglycan from reishi contained approximately 7% protein and 76% carbohydrate. 13 Certain enzymes from reishi have been reported, 14 as well as minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Lanostan, coumarins, ergosterol, and cerevisterol are also components of reishi"

i just googled coumarins and they are produced by plants as a defense chemical in order to discourage predation. so this might be one reason why it can help:shrug:

Try it and let us know how it works out, you might be onto something good here. I don't find reishi much personally but I do find a lot of other medicinal polypores.

everywhere we have a dead street tree we have ganodermas, and we have a lot of dead street trees.

im sure if this does have any merit to it then turkey tail (Trametes versicolor) would have similar benefits and i do believe that is one of or the most common mushroom variety on earth.

I will honestly never have a way of gauging the effectiveness. I can tell you they are not dead.Maybe one day someone will do a real experiment. Being that reishi is the oldest known mushroom to be used i am surprised there are no test on this already. There probably has been i  china... but i cant read Chinese.

I'd be surprised if this has much in the way of beneficial components to it.

would you really be surprised? So you see it doing more harm then good?
even a simple grass soaked in water would be beneficial.

Did I say it would be harmful?  Nope, I sure didn't.

What's your thought process on why soaking grass in water would be beneficial?  Do you have any type of analysis on what the breakdown of grass is going to be and how much of the nutrients would even be transferred to the water?

I would be surprised, because the amounts of nutrients in the mushrooms are super minimal.  It would take quite a bit of them to extract anything useful

grass clippings emit a tun a usable nitrogen.I don't need to argue that one i have noticeable seen it first hand. And i dont want to get into a pissing match here.
Have you ever tasted reshi tea? it taste like earwax flavored cough syrup and thats an understatement.
a reasonably small 15-30 grams in water will make you gag.

So if something tastes bad, that means it's chocked full of nutrients?  Really poor reasoning.
