Drying Help
    #660957 - 03/03/13 12:31 PM (11 years, 28 days ago)

Been hang drying my buds for about 3 days now. The flowers seem really crisp n dry but the branches still kinda bend. Some branches are cracking, but also bending.

I'm worried the buds will be way too dry since they seem pretty dry already. Can I jar them n start curing or still keep then up for drying?

personally i don't wait until the stems crack. i wait until they bend, but almost crack.....and when the buds are slightly crumbly to touch.

my last harvest i started using hygrometers to aid in the curing process.  it was a huge help to be able to see what the levels of humidity were in the containers i used. with the hygrometer i was able to provide a much slower dry/cure with my meds. it's well worth the purchase imo. here's the one  picked up for only 16 bucks.

Thanks for the tip on using a hygrometer. I have a few already in possession, never thought of using them for using!

hang dry for a few days till crisping, then put them into large paper bags inside plastic bags, open and close them at various times to slow the drying time down--wicking moisture from the stem into the buds. When they're ready to crack off the main stem, jar then open every so often till they feel like real bud.

I transition mine to a cardboard box. Usually a shoe box. Paper bags work but Idk boxes work better for me. Lid off over night, back on all day until they're ready.

Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

same concept-- a paper 'buffer' but yours is rigid and thick enough to probably go without the plastic. Since I leave my buds on the stems its easier to use bags for multiple small loosely packed batches. I might try a shoe box between the bag/jar phase after I cut them off the stems, since they can usually still have a bit of moisture left.
